If you own a copy of Martha Stewart’s Cookies: The Very Best Treats to Bake and to Share (Martha Stewart Living Magazine), you no doubt recognize these tasty morsels. Yep, this recipe graces the cover of her book and now I’m pleased to say, it’s gracing this page of my blog.

Peanut butter, chocolate and truffle… oh my! Doesn’t that sound like a heavenly combination? If you agree, then listen up! Cause these rich, chocolaty, truffle-y cookies will get you up off that chair, away from the computer and into your kitchen mixing together some dough like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

These fabulous little goodies are made only with egg whites and no fat.
And one more thing… they are gluten free!
Yep, I went out and found you a low fat cookie for New Years. Now aren’t you glad you stopped by today?

Monochrome Rainbow Cookies

January 17th, 2010

Oh my. Don’t these look classy?
I could just imagine inviting Michelle Obama or Queen Elizabeth over for tea and serving these.
If you’re a fan of the traditional Italian version, the you have to try these Monochrome Rainbow Cookies. Does vanilla, chocolate and peanut butter sound like a great combination? Ummm….. I definitely think it does!
They [...]

Coconut Snowball Cookies

January 9th, 2010

These crunchy Coconut Snowball Cookies are filled with white chocolate and just begging to be baked and eaten immediately.

Oreo Cookies & Fudge

January 2nd, 2010

Traditionally I post only cookie recipes here. But occasionally, I do enjoy making an exception. Yes, this is a fudge recipe. BUT…..

It’s fudge with…..(drum roll please…)…. COOKIES!

Atom Cookies

January 1st, 2010

“An atom is the smallest amount of a substance that we can have that will still retain all the features of that substance.”

Happy New Year everyone! This is a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. People are heading back to the gym in droves, trying new things and making resolutions like it’s 12/21/12.
We do [...]

Hershey Kissy Cookies

December 21st, 2009

Yep… “Kissie’s”.
That’s what my son calls em’, so that’s what we call em’.
Most folks refer to them as Hershey Kiss cookies. Although, in truth, they are not an actual Hershey Kiss cookie either. (You can find a recipe for the genuine article here.)
Nope, this is just something I dreamed up. Any resemblance to any other [...]

German Holiday Oatmeal Cookies

December 20th, 2009

This recipe for German Holiday Oatmeal Cookies from The Gracious Pantry is one of my favorites because of it’s versatility.

The recipe itself is for a healthier basic oatmeal cookie dough that you can add all kinds of flavorful ingredients to.

I do love a pretty cookie, don’t you? Those cookies that are just a pleasure to look at. The ones you almost hate to bite into…. almost. But then you do, and you’re so glad you did. Because not only do they look pretty, but they taste really great too. Yep, I do love a pretty cookie.

Waffle Cookies

December 2nd, 2009

I love to find cookies that are just a big different from the usual, “mix-drop-and-bake” cookies.

Personally, I think Waffle Cookies should be far more well known in this country. They’re awesome!

Chocolate Caramel Bars

November 30th, 2009

So I think I’m on a roll with the bar cookies as of late. I’m really into them for some reason. They just suddenly seem like the perfect comfort food to me.

The bars I have for you today are no exception. These Chocolate Caramel Bars are fantastic! The perfect end to a hard day’s work.

Andes Chocolate Mint Cookies

November 13th, 2009

Doesn’t that photo just tell you everything about the cookie? I mean… yum!
These Andes Chocolate Mints Cookies were so delicious! I baked them for my husband. It’s been a while since I’ve done a mint cookie, and he was starting to go through withdrawals. So I finally caved.
These are a fabulously soft cookie. They crumble [...]

Peanut Butter Fudge Bars

November 4th, 2009

I love the flavorful combination of these little bar cookie treats. I cut them small just like in the photo, and not only were they tasty, they were FUN to eat as well! Why are little bite-sized goodies always so much fun to eat? I sear, the smaller a cookie is, the more I eat of them. I don’t think I realize how many I’m eating when they are tiny. And let’s face it, tiny cookies have half the calories! (Please don’t burst my happy bubble.)

M&M Cashew Pretzel Bars

November 2nd, 2009

Cashews, M&M’s, and Ganache… oh my!

If you like a crunchy cookie, you’ll love these. It’s a bar cookie, but with more crunch and a fabulous “sweet and salty” effect. I added a little course sea salt to the top of mine, and I did thecaramel topping instead of the ganache…. for my first batch.

Cookie Dough Brownies

October 28th, 2009

You should only make these if you love a brownie that is ooey-gooey, soft and chewy, and oooohhh so yummy.

Cookie Truffles

October 21st, 2009

Seriously, there isn’t much I can say other than you HAVE to make these cookies. The photos speak for themselves. These Cookie Truffles will blow your mind.

A couple of months ago, I had this idea to start a cookie baking challenge. At the time, I thought I’d be lucky if 2 people entered.

Well, I’m proud to say that after just the first month, I have…

You know, sometimes I get a hankering for a marshmallow, and wouldn’t you know it, there never seems to be one around when I need one. The nerve.
So I made a special trip down to the store for a package just so I could make these cookies, and true to form…. they were out!
I grumbled [...]

If Oreo cookies and cream cheese sound like a fabulous combination to you, I’m here to tell you… you’re right!
I made these Cookies and Cream Cheesecake Bars for my husband after he had had a really bad day at work. I can honestly tell you, he was suddenly in a MUCH better mood when I [...]

Anniversary Cookies

October 4th, 2009

My husband and I are celebrating our 4 year anniversary this month. In honor of that, I just had to make him some cookies. I mean, what kind of cookie baker would I be if I didn’t?

But there was a glitch…

Chocolate Toffee Bars

September 30th, 2009

Dear God,
Today is a sad, sad day.
Today, I mourn the loss of a beloved family friend. She has been part of our family for nearly 30 years, and I will miss her dearly.
My only consolation is that I have the fabulous recipe that killed her.
It’s the kind of recipe you bake in heaven, God. And [...]

Hershey Kiss Cookies

September 9th, 2009

Well, I must admit I’m a bit embarrassed by my rant yesterday. I humbly apologize and beg your forgiveness. A bad day is a bad day, and I’m afraid I forced you into being a part of mine. So I do apologize.
And to make up for it, I’m giving you kisses. Lots and lots of [...]

Oreo Truffle Balls

September 8th, 2009

Today has been quite a day. My little guy had to get blood drawn (always a huge ordeal), and the doctor can’t tell me what’s wrong with him (based on his last set of tests).
Great. That always goes over well with concerned parent’s, doesn’t it? I mean, how many years of medical school does a [...]

Ginger Florentines

August 12th, 2009

I do love a good Florentine cookie. But I’d never had one with a ginger flavor before. So I was all to eager to give these a try.
They took a bit of time to make, but they were worth it.
I made two batches. For the first batch, I followed the recipe exactly. But somehow, mine [...]

Spring Dream Cookies

August 5th, 2009

Occasionally, I get recipe submissions from Work At Home Moms. I love to feature these because they usually come with photos of adorable kids.
Just look at the smirk on this little guy. Is he not the cutest?
So here’s a little background on the mom who sent in this recipe.
Her name is Elaine K. Stephen and [...]

I have a rather unusual cookie for you today.
When I say unusual, I don’t mean weird or icky tasting, I just mean different. This is not a Nestle’s Toll House cookies. This is different. Good-different.
This cookie has a very deep flavor. Almost “nutty”, but not quite. I would almost call the flavor “rich”, but that [...]

So you’ll have to forgive me. I’ve been on a toffee binge as of late. I just can’t seem to get enough of it. I’ve been adding it to any cookie recipe I can bake. It just seems to really hit the spot lately, ya know?
It’s just one of those things you start to crave, [...]

Well, I don’t know about you, but any cookie with a name like “boomchunka” deserves a bake in my oven. Based on the name alone, I had to try these. I just love saying that word. “Boomchunka”. Come on… say it with me.
“B-o-o-m-c-h-u-n-k-a”. Isn’t it a fun word? It sounds like it should be part [...]

There’s just nothing like two cookies with some ice cream in between them. I mean just look at that photo! Can you stand it?
While these cookies do call for brownie mix in the recipe, I just had to try them. No sugar substitutions on this one… these are a massive sugar rush all the way.
I [...]

Malted Mint Brownies

June 8th, 2009

Chocolate and mint… few things are so refreshing. So when I found this combination in a brownie, I was really excited.
I love Peppermint Patties, so I was eager to see if the strength of the mint in these brownies was strong enough to impress.
I was impressed. The brownies were nice and chewy-gooey, and the mint [...]

Okay. So this book isn’t only about cookies. But I’m a firm believer that every baked goody, especially a chocolate one, deserves a chance. And as the cover says…. cookies are definitely on the menu!
You see, while this is strictly a cookie blog, I could never pass up a chance to share a good chocolate [...]

I’ve been reading this book my husband bought for me called “Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking“, by Michael Ruhlman. In his book, Michael talks about how cooking and baking boil down to simple ingredient ratios. If you know the ratios, you can make just about any recipe you can dream up.
As [...]
