Here’s a lovely twist on a jam filled cookie. Anise seed!
I’m sort of partial to anise seed cookies due to my German upbringing. Anise seed is a popular addition to German cookies. So these Anise Seed Cookies with Raspberry Filling were right up my alley.
You don’t even need to fill them with jam. They are [...]

If you are trying to avoid the “evil white stuff” (sugar and flour) then I’ve got a great holiday recipe for you!
These German Holiday Thumbprint Cookies are not only made with whole wheat, but are naturally sweetened and filled with healthy goodness.
And I can tell you from personal experience, these little goodies are both wholesome [...]

November’s Secret Ingredient was Cranberries. Not very original, I know. But I love cranberries, so I went with it anyway.
The competitors really seemed to take to the idea. The recipes submitted this past month were incredible creations. In fact, my decision was incredibly difficult to say the least. I can only imagine that as more folks join the competition, choosing a winner will become more and more difficult. What a job I have, eh?

Well, I’ve finally tired of trying to reinvent the wheel…. sort of. I thought, this time, instead of trying to create my own cookie recipe from scratch, I’d try and adapt a recipe already floating around the Internet.
Oy, I found a good one! Not to sure the kids will like this, but they are really yummy for us grown-ups. After all, we need our kiddie-treats too, right?

Is it a torte? Is it a cupcake? Is it a pie? No! It’s a cookie!
I love featuring cookies that have a little something different about them, and these Cherry Almond Cookie Pies are definitely different! But in a “rub-your-tummy-gotta-have-seconds-is-that-a-cookie-crumb-in-your-hair” kinda way.

I was trying to figure out what type of cookie to work on next, when a friend on Facebook asked me a question about peanut butter cookies. That got me thinkin’…
I’m not sure if my taste buds are changing as I get older or what, but I’m kinda coming around to peanut butter. I think [...]

I recently had the pleasure of being asked to participate in a virtual celebration for the release of the new cook book, Park Avenue Celebration.
The photographs in the book were all taken inside Park Avenue Apartments and Country Homes. I think you will love the design element of this book as well. It offers advice on how to celebrate in style with a compilation of sensational recipes, entertaining ideas, party-planning tips, and personal anecdotes from New York’s most celebrated hostesses. Award-winning food writer and contributing* New York Times* columnist, *Florence Fabricant* authors and edits each recipe as well as contributes to the book.

A couple of months ago, I had this idea to start a cookie baking challenge. At the time, I thought I’d be lucky if 2 people entered.
Well, I’m proud to say that after just the first month, I have…

You know, sometimes I get a hankering for a marshmallow, and wouldn’t you know it, there never seems to be one around when I need one. The nerve.
So I made a special trip down to the store for a package just so I could make these cookies, and true to form…. they were out!
I grumbled [...]

Do you remember that little cartoon character when >we< were kids called Strawberry Shortcake? I think she’s still around (but updated, of course).
I couldn’t help but think of her while I was eating these. I remember watching that show faithfully every Saturday morning. I loved Strawberry Shortcake. I loved the dessert too. All those wonderful [...]

Summer is in it’s last stages (Yippee!), and fall is on it’s way (More yippees!)
But I have to say, when summer goes, I do miss the summer cookies. There are just some cookies that really seem to fit in with a given season. Don’t you agree? I mean, who wants to eat a pumpkin spice [...]

Oh dear. I think I’ve really lost my noodles this time. Or should I say cookies. Is it better to say I’ve lost my cookies? No matter. It’s all a bit of flour one way or the other, right?

I do love a good Florentine cookie. But I’d never had one with a ginger flavor before. So I was all to eager to give these a try.
They took a bit of time to make, but they were worth it.
I made two batches. For the first batch, I followed the recipe exactly. But somehow, mine [...]

Occasionally, I get recipe submissions from Work At Home Moms. I love to feature these because they usually come with photos of adorable kids.
Just look at the smirk on this little guy. Is he not the cutest?
So here’s a little background on the mom who sent in this recipe.
Her name is Elaine K. Stephen and [...]

Well, I have to tell you, I hate coconut. Absolutely detest it.
I’ve had a coconut cookie or two in the past that I managed to eat, and they were pretty good. But I hate coconut. Just the mere mention of it makes me turn and run. Few foods in life do that to me, but [...]

I had some Nutella left over after making those Nutella Alfajores.
I also happened to have some hazelnuts left over from another recipe I tried as well. So these were the perfect recipe to run across.
They are relatively easy to make, but they do take a bit of time. These are not cookies you whip out [...]

I’ll be the first to admit that these are a lot of work…. if done correctly. I’m not “a-lot-of-work” kinda gal. But I had to try these because frankly, I liked the name. “Little Jacks“. Doesn’t it sound like they just HAVE to taste good? Like they just don’t have a choice but to taste [...]

Happy 4th of July! I’ve got a wonderfully “patriotic” cookie for you today.
My latest trip to my local farmer’s market left me with a rather large bag of blueberries. And I have to admit, I’ve never been a really big fan of blueberries because they tend to stain my teeth.
Now, before you get all upset [...]

Well, I don’t know about you, but any cookie with a name like “boomchunka” deserves a bake in my oven. Based on the name alone, I had to try these. I just love saying that word. “Boomchunka”. Come on… say it with me.
“B-o-o-m-c-h-u-n-k-a”. Isn’t it a fun word? It sounds like it should be part [...]

Oh what a fun cookie! Wouldn’t these Apricot Glazed Stripey Cookies be great for a summer party?
I tried these, and I must say it was a bit cumbersome trying to get those layers together. However, I think my dough was a little more crumbly than it should have been. There’s a good chance I put [...]

I can be a sucker for a delicate cookie. If the flavor works, then there’s just nothing better than a nice, light, delicate cookie to go with my afternoon cup of tea.

I do love a good biscotti. But I’ve never had banana biscotti before. So I whipped up a batch of these (with chocolate chips) and left them on the counter for a gathering I was going to at noon.
You would think I would know by now not to leave things out on the counter. My [...]

Spitzbuben are typically found in Switzerland and Germany. They are a wonderful, delicate yet crunchy cookie that has the the lightest touch of fruit filling. The flavor is sweet, yet somehow “light”.

I’m always looking for recipes that are a bit different. This recipe actually came from a recipe book I don’t yet own. I’ll have to fix that. In fact, maybe I’ll buy two and offer one as a contest prize! I’ll keep you posted.
But until then, give these a try. They are [...]

The cookies are the ideal cookie…. you can have them for breakfast, and not feel guilty!

Tahini Orange Cookies are just as yummy as they look in the photo. The blogger gives you the option of using either orange or lemon flavor for the cookies. Today I’m taking my little guy to the cardiologist. He was born with a small hole in his heart, and they monitor him regularly to be sure it’s closing up, or at the very least, not getting any bigger.
