This unique and wonderful cookie has some unexpected ingredients. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never put cornflakes in my cookies. It just never occurred to me to do so, and I’ve never run across a recipe that called for it…. until now.

A Very Sexy Cowboy……. Cookie

December 24th, 2009

If ever there was a rugged cookie, this is it. A cookie that could saunter into a room in a hat and boots and make every woman’s head turn. A cookie with ripples and ridges in all the right places. A cookie so full of hot goodness, you just can’t help but stand up and grab it by it’s strong, hardy, ripley middle and plunge your teeth into it.

Spiced Oats Cookies

December 23rd, 2009

There’s something about a spice cookie this time of year that screams “Christmas” from the roof tops. I don’t know if it’s because of the Christmas I spent in Germany where I had tons of these while walking through the amazing Christmas fairs, or if I picked up the habit here in the states.
But either [...]

German Holiday Oatmeal Cookies

December 20th, 2009

This recipe for German Holiday Oatmeal Cookies from The Gracious Pantry is one of my favorites because of it’s versatility.

The recipe itself is for a healthier basic oatmeal cookie dough that you can add all kinds of flavorful ingredients to.

Crispy Oatmeal Cookies

December 16th, 2009

Crispy Oatmeal Cookies have always been a favorite of mine. I mean, the soft chewy ones are nice, don’t get me wrong. But the crispy ones just have that extra “something” that the soft, cakey ones do not.

I don’t know if it’s the flavor or the texture, or maybe it both, but these are definitely some fantastic oatmeal cookies!

November’s Secret Ingredient was Cranberries. Not very original, I know. But I love cranberries, so I went with it anyway.

The competitors really seemed to take to the idea. The recipes submitted this past month were incredible creations. In fact, my decision was incredibly difficult to say the least. I can only imagine that as more folks join the competition, choosing a winner will become more and more difficult. What a job I have, eh?

Oatmeal Sandwhich Cookies With Rum Raisin Filling are no joke. They’re big, they’re full of flavor, and ~hic~ full of rum-umumumum!

Oatmeal Cookies For A Cause

October 20th, 2009

I recently had the pleasure of being asked to participate in a virtual celebration for the release of the new cook book, Park Avenue Celebration.

The photographs in the book were all taken inside Park Avenue Apartments and Country Homes. I think you will love the design element of this book as well. It offers advice on how to celebrate in style with a compilation of sensational recipes, entertaining ideas, party-planning tips, and personal anecdotes from New York’s most celebrated hostesses. Award-winning food writer and contributing* New York Times* columnist, *Florence Fabricant* authors and edits each recipe as well as contributes to the book.

Celebrity Cookie Recipes

August 24th, 2009

If you’ve ever wondered what the stars are baking in their own kitchens, here’s a look into 4 of their ovens.
1) Who wouldn’t love some cookies baked by our lovely first lady, Michelle Obama. Her Shortbread Cookies are positively perfect, and I’m sure they get served at the White House on a frequent basis.
2) I [...]

Cowboy Cookies

June 25th, 2009

Oh, please tell me I’m not the only sucker for a man on a horse. Something about that combination makes my knees go weak every time. So when I saw that there was a cookie named after these equestrian endowed gentlemen, I just had to try them.
Know what? My knees went weak for these cookies [...]

Nuts are a favorite snack around here. We all munch on them regularly. So when I pulled out the cashews, I couldn’t help but munch on a few.
I realized I was missing a couple of ingredients, so I went down to the store for them. When I got back,  my half-full package of cashews was almost [...]

I will be the first to admit that the ingredient list for these cookies is long. But I swear to you, they are worth the effort.
I have a lot of cookie testers around my house. Very eager cookie testers. And that’s just the people in my house! I believe the vote was unanimous. These are [...]

Heart Healthy Cookies

April 23rd, 2009

Today I’m taking my little guy to the cardiologist. He was born with a small hole in his heart, and they monitor him regularly to be sure it’s closing up, or at the very least, not getting any bigger.
So far, every checkup he’s had has been good. But these appointments always make me a little [...]

I’ve featured Claudia’s recipes a lot in the past. I used to own an Ayurvedic bath and body product company. And since her blog is all about Ayurvedic food, it was a great match.
So when she sent me this new recipe for cookies, I just couldn’t resist asking her if I could feature her recipe [...]

Whole Wheat Oatmeal Cookies

March 11th, 2009

They look healthy, don’t they?
These whole wheat oatmeal cookies are so yummy, and you can make so many variations of them.
Try adding different types of dried fruit, or grain sweetened chocolate chips.
The great thing about these cookies is that there’s no refined sugar. It’s just honey and molasses.
I must say… I tried these, and they [...]

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

January 31st, 2009

If there was ever heaven in a Peanut Butter Cookie, this might be it.
My husband is a peanut butter fanatic. I can never keep a jar of it in the house because it disappears before I get so much as a single spoonful. He insists that our 1 year old sneaks out of his crib [...]

I just couldn’t pass up a chance to blog about this recipe. I think this is quite possibly the strangest cookie recipe I’ve run across so far.
While I won’t be trying these any time soon, I’m sure there are those of you out there who would like to give it a whirl.
I’m not sure I [...]

The Art of the Oatmeal Cookie

October 15th, 2008

Few cookies feel “homier”, and even fewer cookies bridge the gap between breakfast and dessert, than the Oatmeal Cookie.
Baking Oatmeal Cookies really is an art. And just like 12 painters can paint the same picture and get 12 different paintings, so it is with Oatmeal Cookies. They can be tweaked and adjusted to fit almost [...]
