Old fashion recipes have always been my favorite. While I can’t really put my finger on the exact differences, there is a distinct difference between old fashion cookies made from old fashion recipes, and the bland, plain, “might-as-well-be-just-flour-and-sugar-with-no-other-flavoring-cookies” that many recipes produce today.
In fact I NEVER purchase store bought cookies anymore. Not because it wouldn’t be lovely just to pick up a batch at the store on occasion, but because the flavor and texture is just so….. “ick“.
And yes, “ick” is an official word used to describe cookies that get pushed out by machines instead of human hands… because I said so. So there. Add that very official word to your vocabulary, would you? Thanks. Now back to our recipe…
If you’d like to experience a true old fashion cookie, give these Molasses Cookies a try. The recipe is very easy and pretty quick to throw together.
The flavor of these cookies really resonates with your soul. I have to tell you, the molasses, ginger and cinnamon mingle together in an absolutely heavenly dance that tickles your tongue and comforts your tummy and your mind. Kick back, relax, and enjoy an old fashion favorite by the fireplace.
Happy Baking!
