Well, I’ve finally tired of trying to reinvent the wheel…. sort of. I thought, this time, instead of trying to create my own cookie recipe from scratch, I’d try and adapt a recipe already floating around the Internet.
Oy, I found a good one! Not to sure the kids will like this, but they are really yummy for us grown-ups. After all, we need our kiddie-treats too, right?

A cookie wouldn’t be a cookie without some type of fat in it. Without fat, you’d end up with a paper weight instead of a cookie. Here’s a look at the different type of fats used in cookies, how to use them and how to store them.
Butter
~Generally speaking, when making cookies, you want your butter [...]

I love a truly unique cookie. Something that’s completely different than what I’m used to baking. Something that touches my taste buds and makes them stand at attention. Something that says, “mmmm, you’ve never had these before!”
Well, that’s exactly what happened when I made these Buttermilk Pistachio Squares. They were so good and so out [...]

Today has been quite a day. My little guy had to get blood drawn (always a huge ordeal), and the doctor can’t tell me what’s wrong with him (based on his last set of tests).
Great. That always goes over well with concerned parent’s, doesn’t it? I mean, how many years of medical school does a [...]

If you’ve ever wondered what the stars are baking in their own kitchens, here’s a look into 4 of their ovens.
1) Who wouldn’t love some cookies baked by our lovely first lady, Michelle Obama. Her Shortbread Cookies are positively perfect, and I’m sure they get served at the White House on a frequent basis.
2) I [...]

Green Tea has been used in Chinese medicine for 4000 years. Not only does it reduce your chances of getting certain types of cancers, but there is even some evidence to suggest that it lowers bad cholesterol and helps the body regain it’s good/bad cholesterol ratio. Not bad for a few dried plant leaves!
So, of [...]

Ladies and gents, I have a fabulous cookie company to tell you about this week. I just LOVE this company, and their cookies are so amazingly beautiful!
The Flour Pot, owned and run by Margie and Abbey Greenberg, is a small company that started in 2003 and has only 5 employees. Yet they have hundreds of [...]

I was recently interviewed by Women’s Wold Magazine. The reporter wanted to know my opinion on the best store bought cookie dough. It got me to thinking, more specifically, about the best Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Ya’ll know how much I LOVE my Chocolate Chip Cookies. I just don’t think life would exist without them. [...]

I love to keep my man happy as much as the next gal. I love it even more when it’s easy to do!
How does that saying go? “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach“?
Well, when it comes to my man, truer words were never spoken. As long as he has time with [...]

Is it just me, or are there a lot of pregnant women running around lately? It seems everywhere I turn, I bump into a belly well before I bump into the woman attached to it.
It makes me wonder what happened 9 months ago? Did we have a blackout? A massive party I didn’t know about? [...]

If there ever was an old fashion cookie, this Chewy Molasses Ginger Cookie is it!
Fresh grated ginger and Black Strap Molasses are the flavor foundation for these oldies but goodies. These are the cookies your grandma grew up on. The kind of cookies that families used to enjoy together at the table with a tall [...]

I have a rather unusual cookie for you today.
When I say unusual, I don’t mean weird or icky tasting, I just mean different. This is not a Nestle’s Toll House cookies. This is different. Good-different.
This cookie has a very deep flavor. Almost “nutty”, but not quite. I would almost call the flavor “rich”, but that [...]

Happy 4th of July! I’ve got a wonderfully “patriotic” cookie for you today.
My latest trip to my local farmer’s market left me with a rather large bag of blueberries. And I have to admit, I’ve never been a really big fan of blueberries because they tend to stain my teeth.
Now, before you get all upset [...]

“Ohhhh, say, can you see (voice cracks a bit- definitely out of tune), by the dawn’s early light, What so proudly I hail’d at my oven’s last warming?
Whose brown sugar and bright sprinkles, thro’ the perilous Kitchen Aid…..”
Okay, okay. I’ll stop there. I’m not trying to be patriotically blasphemous here, but this is a cookie [...]

So you’ll have to forgive me. I’ve been on a toffee binge as of late. I just can’t seem to get enough of it. I’ve been adding it to any cookie recipe I can bake. It just seems to really hit the spot lately, ya know?
It’s just one of those things you start to crave, [...]

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy… do I LOVE caramel! It’s right up there with toffee and chocolate.
In fact, I may have created the perfect cookie here. You see, in addition to what the recipe asks for, I also added 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the food processor when I ground the pecans, and [...]

There’s just something about a good lemon square that takes me back to my childhood. A time when family surrounded me for special occasions and wonderful celebrations.
My mom was well known for her amazing lemon squares. I remember as clearly as if I were holding one in my hand at this moment; the gooey, lemony [...]

Sing with me now….happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me. Happy birthda….. Wait. It’s not my birthday… bummer. And I SO enjoyed my cookie cake. To bad I don’t have a good excuse for eating it…. all.
Ehem… did I just publicly admit that? Oh boy. Well, the truth is, I didn’t make it as [...]

On Saturdays, I like to feature small, “Main Street” cookie companies. Not the “big dogs” with plenty of cash flow, but the little guys that really go out of their way to give you great customer service and an even greater cookie. In this economy, I think it’s vital to support our local businesses. Don’t you?
So [...]

I know this is my second post on sugar cookies in a row, but these turned out so cute! I just had to post them.
I substituted the sugar for agave to cut down on the blood sugar effect, and they came out looking just like the photo (phew!)
These were a hoot to make. I let [...]

While I don’t fully understand the reference to bracelets, I do have to say that these cookies make a wonderfully “ornamental” display on any platter. The colored sugar gives these cookies a rather “bejeweled” look. Don’t you think?
I realize this photo has Christmas tree ornaments in it, but the post was written during the holidays. [...]

Summer just isn’t summer without a good BBQ, don’t you think? The smokey, tantlizing smells waft around your head like an angel gently guiding you towards the nearest grill, regardless of what’s actually on it. Yep, there’s just something about a BBQ that cries out for walks in the park to splash in and glasses of cold lemonade.
Take [...]

There’s just nothing like two cookies with some ice cream in between them. I mean just look at that photo! Can you stand it?
While these cookies do call for brownie mix in the recipe, I just had to try them. No sugar substitutions on this one… these are a massive sugar rush all the way.

Chocolate and mint… few things are so refreshing. So when I found this combination in a brownie, I was really excited.
I love Peppermint Patties, so I was eager to see if the strength of the mint in these brownies was strong enough to impress.
I was impressed. The brownies were nice and chewy-gooey, and the mint [...]
