My favorite tradition is having my mom come over for a baking day. We make all of our favorite holiday treats & split them between us. I love eating the treats as we make them.

My favorite tradition growing up was we'd always pick a couple families/neighbors/friends and secretly do the 12 days of Christmas, leaving them little treats and things on their door, knocking and running. So fun! We've done that a few times since I've been married. (Sometimes if we travel for Christmas, it isn't do-able.) Our latest tradition with the boys is making gingerbread houses on Christmas Eve.

The Gingerbread Man. My mom has made gingerbread men from the same recipe since I was a tiny tot...and I'm 45 now. She's still making them. (I think the recipe is from her 1950 edition of The Betty Crocker Cookbook). Because she has never changed her recipe, eating one instantly transports me back to childhood. I even eat them the same way: legs first, then arms, then torso from the bottom up. Silly, I know. But that's part of Christmas. I hope it is for years to come, as well.

My Favorite Christmas tradition is stringing popcorn to put on the tree. This year, my grand kids will be able to help with this. Maybe we'll even string some gum drops to put on the tree too. They also enjoy making cut out cookies. They're getting pretty good at it!
